Overview

E2 is hiring Welding Inspectors to ensure weldments and related activities meet all relevant quality and safety criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize themselves with approved construction drawings and Company specifications.
  • Understand welding techniques, welding positions, welding consumables, weld preparation, and welding-inspection documentation requirements.
  • Complete, submit, and maintain applicable inspection reports daily.
  • Ensure all proposed design changes and/or material substitutions are discussed with the Construction Manager/Project Manager and that proper approvals are obtained.
  • Verify all materials used are in compliance with Company requirements.
  • Possess an understanding of the relationship between quality assurance, quality control, and inspection procedures.
  • Assure welding procedures are established, and each welder is qualified for the work they are performing.
  • Maintain quality of welds being made to ensure sound welds are being made at all joints.
  • Verify all weld repairs are made in accordance with applicable codes and Company specifications.
  • Perform duties designated by the Chief Inspector.
  • Ensure safety measures are followed.
  • Communicate safety issues to the inspection team.
  • Address safety concerns and escalate safety issues to the Chief Inspector or Construction Manager.
  • Track all materials used for pipeline construction, including joint numbers, joint lengths, and heat numbers associated with all materials (pipe stock, fittings, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience required in related field of piping, fittings, or valve as it relates to welding.
  • Must possess either: Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) through the American Welding Society or Certified Pipe Welding Inspector (CPWI) with documented and verifiable work experience related to transmission / process piping and API-1104 and API – 1169.
  • Through NWIS Fundamental knowledge of ASME, API, and ASTM codes and specifications.
  • Pass a drug test and background check.
  • At least 18 years of age and authorized to work in U.S.
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Clear communication with other team members and client personnel.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Desired Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience required in related field of piping, fittings, or valve as it relates to welding.
  • Proficient with computers and portable electronic tablets and supporting software applications, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of testing best practices, version control practices, and defect management practices.

Pay

The starting rate will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment. Hourly rate for this position is $58.00 - $67.00.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Construction Sites and/or Client Right-of-Way (R.O.W.). Client testing facility (occasionally). Corporate office (occasionally). May require extensive driving to reach job sites and/or client/E2 offices. Frequent ascending and descending of ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms up in and out of pipeline bell-hole / trench / excavation. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. Lifting objects in excess of 50 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. Ability to perform visual inspection of construction crew quality of work; using measuring devices; and/or assembly of fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Able to perform in both inside and outside environmental conditions in all four seasons throughout the continental United States – extreme cold (temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit) and/or extreme heat (temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit) for periods of more than one hour.
