About the role

The Welding Fabricator is responsible for the entire fabrication process, including forming, drilling, bolting, fitting, and welding. The Welding Fabricator ensures a quality fabricated product is provided for the next production operation.

Responsibilities

• Review fabrication drawings, specifications, and the bill of materials to verify fit, form, and function meet fabrication requirements.
• Fabricate furnace and cabinet enclosures by shearing and bending metal for manufacturing furnace and/or control cabinet.
• Conduct process dimensional quality checks to ensure fabrication accuracy.
• Complete appropriate welding (MIG/TIG) and cleaning of parts to construct the furnace shell and/or control cabinet enclosure.
• Perform in-process operator quality inspection and transport the furnace to the next workstation.

Requirements

• Experience with MIG/TIG welding, pipe fitting, metal forming, and shearing metal.
• Proficient in operating a shop saw, forklifts, and overhead crane.
• Knowledge of materials used in metal fabrication.
• Ability to read and understand blueprint drawings and schematics.
• Solid math skills, including geometry, fractions, decimals, use of a calculator, and a mathematical table.
• Experience using a tape measure, caliper/micrometer, tri-square, and degree finder.
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand 8 to 10 hours a day and lift up to 50 pounds to chest level, carrying the object a minimum of 10 feet.
• Ability to climb ladders and bend over to pick up materials.
• Ability to wear a dust mask or breathing respirator while performing all job tasks as needed.
