About the Role

The Manufacturing Engineer - Welding serves as the technical expert for welding processes and production support. This individual will work closely with production, maintenance, quality, project management, sales, and external vendors to develop innovative manufacturing solutions, optimize welding performance, and ensure products meet customer quality requirements. Responsibilities

  • Welding Engineering & Process Development
    • Design, develop, implement, and analyze welding processes and manufacturing systems.
    • Design and procure weld fixtures to support production requirements.
    • Develop and maintain welding process specifications and work instructions.
    • Support all welding processes, including:
      • MIG Welding
      • TIG Welding
      • Spot Welding
      • Flash Welding
    • Recommend and implement process improvements to increase quality, throughput, and efficiency.
    • Document and standardize welding procedures and best practices.
  • Production Support
    • Provide day-to-day engineering support to welding and fabrication operations.
    • Troubleshoot manufacturing and welding-related issues and determine root causes.
    • Assist with machine setup, programming, process validation, and equipment optimization.
    • Verify production parts meet engineering and customer specifications.
    • Support maintenance teams in resolving equipment and process-related issues.
  • Robotic Welding & Automation
    • Support robotic MIG welding systems and automated welding operations.
    • Develop and optimize welding programs and parameters.
    • Evaluate cycle times, tooling, fixture designs, and automation opportunities.
    • Identify improvements that enhance consistency, safety, and productivity.
  • Continuous Improvement & Quality
    • Drive initiatives focused on improving welding quality and reducing defects.
    • Analyze production data to identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
    • Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve process performance.
    • Ensure quality standards are maintained and customer requirements are consistently met.
  • Customer & Vendor Collaboration
    • Work closely with suppliers and outside vendors on tooling, equipment, and process improvements.
    • Support Sales and Project Managers during customer meetings, sales calls, and plant visits.
    • Serve as a technical resource for welding and manufacturing-related inquiries.
  • Professional Responsibilities
    • Build and maintain positive working relationships across all departments.
    • Handle confidential manufacturing and engineering information in accordance with company policy.
    • Support company objectives, safety initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
    • Maintain professional communication with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Welding, or related discipline preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience with robotic MIG welding in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience supporting welding operations, fixture design, and manufacturing process improvement.
    • Metal fabrication, tube fabrication, and welded assembly experience strongly preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of welding processes and manufacturing techniques.
    • Experience with robotic welding systems and production support.
    • Knowledge of weld fixture design and fabrication.
    • Understanding of quality control, root cause analysis, and process optimization.
    • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment, tooling, and production systems.

  • Experience in metal fabrication, tube fabrication, or welded assemblies.
  • Exposure to automation and robotic welding programming.
  • Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

Pay

$70,000.00 USD Annually - $90,000.00 USD Annually
