Responsibilities

• Ensure all welding on new and existing programs complies with customer weld specifications as noted on customer prints or Target agreements; alert leadership of non-conformances.
• Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
• Understand and promote Magna’s Philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution, and Employee’s Charter).
• Communicate and present welding-related information to customers.
• Assume full ownership of welding processes, including:
  • Resolving quality concerns in a timely manner.
  • Cascading lessons learned across similar processes.
  • Optimizing processes for continuous improvement.
  • Maintaining weld documentation databases and weld maps.
• Evaluate weld documentation to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Provide direction on required equipment and weld applications during process development to optimize line throughput while maintaining customer specifications.
• Stay updated on technological improvements in welding to keep KAMTEK at the forefront; implement beneficial advancements.
• Participate in welding best practices meetings with other divisions to share and learn strategies.
• Support quoting activities for new and existing business.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to provide technical direction to Weld Technicians.
• Promote good housekeeping (5S).
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree in Weld Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
• Technical training in:
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance.
  • CAD and CAD Viewer programs.
  • Bosch Resistance Welding Controls, Lincoln i400 Power Source, Fronius Power Source.
  • Thorough knowledge of GMAW, FCAW, RSW.
• Computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Bosch BOS, weld controller software, and data collection.
• Minimum 4 years of weld engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills (verbal and written).
• Capable of developing good working relationships with customers.
• Willingness to work extended or flexible hours, including shift changes to support business needs.
• Able to work under variable workload and stress.
• Willingness to travel; valid passport or ability to obtain one.
• Practical experience in costing and quoting.
• Ability to propose design alternatives to improve manufacturing processes.
• Physical demands include:
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Standing and sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Occasional bending and stooping.

• Standard weld lab test equipment (e.g., teach pendant, force gauge, weld analyzer).
