Welding and Fabrication Technology Instructor - Part Time Evenings

Purpose of the Role and Scope of Responsibility

Prepares for and teaches Welding and Fabrication Technology courses and conducts labs as assigned by the department chair of the Welding and Fabrication Technology department.

Roles And Responsibilities

- Teaches assigned theory and lab classes. - Plans daily activities for students in theory and lab. - Supervises students for both theory and technical project grades. - Instructs and evaluates students in a live work setting who are performing welding and fabrication, to include instruction in shop safety. - Maintains a safe worksite and enforces Ranken’s safety standards. - Assists in the maintenance of lab and classroom equipment. - Assists management with developing curriculum and syllabi, scheduling, budgeting, hiring, and other duties. - Participates in college governance, committee work, student advising, etc. - Participates in available training to keep current in Welding and Fabrication Technology. - Assists in maintaining requirements of industry standards. - Performs other duties as assigned by authorized individual.

Minimum Qualifications

- Knowledge/Education/Experience: - Associates degree in Welding and Fabrication Technology or related engineering field preferred. - Five years or more of Welding and Fabrication technology experience with a degree, or 10 years or more of experience without a degree. - Community college or technical school teaching experience preferred but will train. - Excellent presentation skills including strong written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to motivate students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles. - Ability to weld with SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW in all positions. - Mechanically inclined and experienced with mechanical repairs on industrial equipment. - Computer literate in MS Office. - Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines.
