Welder-Wknd Shift
About the Role
As a Welder at SPX Technologies' Electric Heat business, you will perform welding operations to assemble and secure sheet metal for electrical and industrial equipment, according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications.
- Welds or tack welds metal parts together, using TIG welding, MIG welding, or spot welding equipment.
- Removes rough spots from workpiece, using grinder, sander, or saw.
- May be trained and tested to be ASME certified.
Requirements
- One to three months of related experience and/or training.
- Ability to correctly read a tape measure.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of TIG welding, MIG welding, and spot welding equipment and techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- TIG welding, MIG welding, and stick welding certification.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to walk and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
