Welder - Weekends
Brief Description
Positions available first shift weekends to include shift premium.
About the Role
The Welder must be capable of performing a variety of welding functions. The individual should be familiar with and capable of using various types of welding equipment. A welder is also required to perform other miscellaneous tasks, as supervision deems necessary.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, general arrangement and sub-component detail drawings
- Maintain, repair, rebuild and fabricate parts when required for all types of industrial equipment
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections, diagnose equipment problems and performs necessary repairs and reports findings to supervision
- Performs MIG, arc and TIG welding, layout, and pipefitting functions
- Full compliance with plant, state and federal safety regulations and general work rules. Use of proper lock-out procedure and personal protective equipment
- Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions
- Examine weld for bead size and other specifications
- Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes
- Selects torch, torch tip, filler ford and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of material
- Cheap off excess weld, slag and spatter
- Cleans or de-greases parts
- Performs all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding
- Be able to move parts in and move finished product out of welding area
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Educational requirements: A high school diploma or GED is required; military experience, trade or technical school preferred
- Experience & Skills: Certified Welder Required to obtain a D14.1 certification at a G1-G4 position within 30 days after hire. Must possess a working knowledge of all applicable manufacturers and industry standards (CMAA, HMI, ANSI, and OSHA)
- Physical requirements: Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
- Communication skills: Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
- Technical skills: Strong analytical, conceptual and planning skills are required, Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
- Personal qualities: Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to multi-task
- Background check: Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a metal fabrication environment or other equivalent experience
