Aid in the coordination of fabrication workers to ensure efficient material flow and part assembly within the fabrication department.

Assist in the development and mentoring of Welder I and II, ensuring they meet quality standards and adhere to work instructions.

Maintain a safe working environment by performing daily audits and elevating any safety concerns to the supervisor.

Read and interpret various documents including job travelers, blueprints, welding procedures, and joint surface indexes.

Advanced welding machine setup and troubleshooting
Advanced knowledge of grinding, gouging, and weld repair
Conduct pre-shift briefings on safety and production goals
Document project progress accurately
Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
Minimize production downtime by addressing issues promptly
Lead and motivate the team through a respectful and professional approach
Drive housekeeping efforts within the team and promote a culture of mentoring and development

High school diploma or GED
Successful completion of an accredited weld training program or equivalent, with 3+ years of NAVSEA experience
Welding certification from an accredited program or technical program preferred
Completion of 10 weld tests: FCAW (2G, 3G, and 4G), GWAW-Pulsed (2G, 3G, and 4G), GMAW-Spray (2G), GMAW-Pulsed Alloys (2G, 3G, and 4G)
Pegasus Welder Workmanship Training (WWT)
Detail-oriented knowledge of manufacturing welded steel products
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment safely and independently
Effective communication skills with cross-functional groups
Ability to build and lead a high-performing team
Ability to coach and mentor the workforce in trade skills
Ability to collect and present performance data for personnel decisions
