Welder (Swing Shift or Weekend Shift)
About the role
Dogwood Industries is seeking an experienced Welder to join our team in Sedro-Woolley. A successful candidate will weld steel assemblies from plans, specifications, and quality control hold points, perform simple fittings, and process complex parts for assembly. You must understand written and verbal instructions, follow dimensional and welding drawings, and produce production-quality welds within a given process.
Responsibilities
- Weld in all positions competently
- Set weld machines to optimum parameters per WPS
- Interpret weld symbols and prepare joints to code
- Use jigs and fixtures where appropriate
- Perform basic fitting work as instructed
- Place welds of proper size, spacing and sequence per work instruction
- Read and understand shop plans, blueprints and work orders
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or vocational degree
- 3+ years of welding experience or trade school education
- Current WABO or AWS certification (FCAW)
- Skillful operation of most non-specialized metalworking equipment
- Ability to apply visual inspection criteria in pre-QC work checks
Physical Requirements
The role regularly requires full range of mobility in upper and lower body, ability to reach overhead, work in various positions (stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, squatting), use hands to handle or feel objects/tools/controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, and balance for extended periods. You must be able to lift, pull and push material and equipment to complete assigned tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds. The shop environment includes noise, dust, fumes, and odors; this is a production environment requiring somewhat strenuous daily activity.
Pay
$25.00 – $38.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
