Major Responsibilities
- Mechanical fabrication of modular control buildings from custom steel bases to wall/roof assembly, and full fit out with doors, HVACs, etc.
- Proper layout of mechanical equipment within modular building.
- Assemble mechanical equipment per WM standards and engineered drawings.
- Assembling, installing and mounting electrical and mechanical equipment and components in a neat and professional manner within modular control buildings.
- Able to visually locate components and determine proper clearances, etc.
- Properly label and document component identification and location.
- Aid in preparing assembled equipment for system testing procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized production area on a daily basis.
- Reviews BOM (bill of materials) to assess equipment receipt and readiness for project assembly.
- Use of industrial tools, such as, welders, grinders, band saws, shear, punches, bender, overhead crane, and forklifts.
- Complies with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner.
- Works with Manufacturing Manager and Operations Manager to fully understand system assembly requirements and shipment schedules and/or project timelines.
Minimum Requirements
- Education – High School Diploma (Associates in Industrial/Mechanical field and/or related Military experience preferred).
- Experience – 2+ years of directly related mechanical and/or fabrication experience in the areas described above for Staff Technician Level. 5 – 10 years of experience for Lead Technician Level.
- Strong preference for AWS welding experience and certifications.
- Strong preference for CWI certification.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to read mechanical/fabrication drawings and details.
- Good employee interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated skill in working effectively with a team of engineers and engineering support.
- Familiar with the use of a personal computer (PC) for entering timesheets, expense reports, printing wire labels, etc.
- Working knowledge of all necessary safety requirements while working in assembly area.
- Strong time management and organization skills.
- Must be able to work independently and successfully complete multiple assignments in a deadline driven environment.
Physical Demands of Position
- Good visual perception to see small electrical wires and components within the panel boards.
- Must have full dexterity in hands and fingers to utilize variety of tools and equipment for electrical assembly.
- Must have ability to stand and/or kneel for long periods of time.
- Ability to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
- Also, ability to mount and dismount equipment, push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Working Conditions
- Equipment assembly environment; cement floor with floor padding provided as needed.
- May be dust in the area from the type of equipment environment setting.
