About The Role
We are seeking a Welder to perform preventive and breakdown maintenance welding on heavy equipment such as scrapers, blades, dozers, backhoes, and skid steers in an open-cut mining environment. NARM produces high-quality thermal coal and is located in Wright, Wyoming—a safe, tight-knit community with outstanding schools and various recreational opportunities. Peabody’s NARM Mine maintains a safety-first culture with a goal of zero recordable MSHA injuries or incidents.
Responsibilities
- Visibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values
- Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System
- Inspect work area and plant for hazards, damage, and defects
- Examine drawings or specifications to determine work methods, sequence of activities, or manufacture of components
- Diagnose faults or breakdowns
- Estimate time and materials required to complete jobs
- Raise orders for materials
- Undertake repairs or component changeouts as required
- Clean and maintain tools and work area
- Train other personnel or apprentices (if required)
- Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements
- Other duties as assigned by the company
Requirements
- Heavy equipment welding experience in construction or mining; or two (2) years of work experience and completion of a one (1) year mechanical/welding vo-tech school program
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and at different times of day
- Ability to work overtime as required by the Company
- Ability to train others
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
- Ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
- Ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps, and climb on and off equipment and ladders
- Ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs and good hand-to-eye coordination
- Ability to lift/raise 10–50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
- Ability to work in extreme conditions, including changing weather, dust, mud, varying noise levels, varying light conditions, and confined work areas
- Ability to work various shifts (days, evenings, nights with rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays)
