About the role
This position is a critical role in our welding department as it is responsible for one of the first steps in building our pontoons that provide the smooth ride and performance that Barletta is known for. The TIG or MIG weld positions are responsible for welding aluminum rails and tubes. Individuals in this role must have strong attention to detail and the ability to safely work in a fast-paced and team-focused environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform various welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to fabricate pontoons and related components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to execute precise welds.
- Ensure the structural integrity and cosmetic quality of welded components.
- Material Preparation: Select and prepare appropriate materials for welding, considering specifications and project requirements. Cut, shape, and fit metal components using tools such as grinders, saws, and cutting torches.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct visual inspections of welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. Collaborate with the quality control team to address and rectify any welding defects or discrepancies.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety guidelines and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly to the supervisor.
- Supports a Barletta Safe culture by adhering to and advocating for the safest behaviors and proactively identifies opportunities to mitigate job-related risks and hazards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other welders, fabricators, and production staff to ensure smooth workflow and meet production goals. Communicate effectively with supervisors and other relevant personnel.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment to ensure optimal performance. Report any equipment malfunctions or issues for timely repairs.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement in welding techniques and equipment. Stay informed about advancements in welding technology and methodology.
Qualifications
- Requires aluminum MIG &/or TIG welding experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; welding certification or technical training preferred
- Proven experience as a welder in a manufacturing environment, preferably in boat manufacturing
- Proficient in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Must have the ability to perform all physical requirements required of the position, including but not limited to ability to stand, walk, push, pull, full range of motion, bend, kneel, climb, squat for 8+ hours and lift upward of 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
