Welder Multi-Craft - Field Position (8) Maryville, TN

About the role

At Cherokee Millwright, we are a multi-craft company that focuses on the needs of our customers by providing multi-trades personnel to meet the customer’s unique job requests. Therefore, all field employees will be cross-trained in various trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, etc. The focus of this position will be to plan, lay-out, weld, install and repair all types of metal components according to blueprints, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by supervisor.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Laying out pieces to be assembled according to blueprints, schematics or work orders.
• Using manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.
• Positioning pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
• Inspecting completed work for conformance to specifications.
• Performing minor maintenance to equipment.
• Observing all standard safety practices, and maintaining and completing all required records.
• Participating in safety committees or initiatives as required.
• Additional skills in other crafts will be necessary to meet our customers' needs and will be expected in this role.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass structural and 6G pipe weld test.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent; and Two + years of experience with industrial and commercial applications.

The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
