About the role
The Maintenance Welder/Mechanic supports the Maintenance Manager by performing various mechanical repairs and light plumbing tasks, including welding and installing machinery.
Responsibilities
- Regularly performs job duties including mechanical repair and light plumbing
- Welds metals based on client or employer requests
- Examines equipment after welding and repairs defects
- Plans welding operations before beginning
- Enters data into a computer
- Aids in the installation of machinery
- Repairs machinery to minimize downtime
- Responds to emergencies and call-ins for equipment breakdowns
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Safety-oriented
- Able to work without direct supervision
Requirements
- Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED equivalent. A vocational course in welding is advantageous.
- Competencies: Attention to Detail, Excellent Manual Dexterity, Results Driven, Teamwork
- Physical Requirements: Lift up to 50 pounds, assist with lifts of 35-50 pounds, push/pull equipment, bend and stoop repetitively, occasional overhead lifting
Qualifications
- Skilled welder and mechanic with technical and physical capabilities
- Genuine concern for safety of employees, structures, and products
- Experience and judgment to do limited planning of tasks
- Physical requirements: lift up to 50 pounds, assist with lifts of 35-50 pounds, push/pull equipment, bend and stoop repetitively, occasional overhead lifting
