About The Role
The Welder Technician IV is responsible for performing expert-level welding tasks in a variety of repair and fabrication work in mechanical and fluid systems in preparation for launch operations. This role involves aligning and welding components of metal tools, wires, fixtures, and other metal products. These systems include structural, hydraulic, zirconium, stainless steel, and other components. The Welder Technician IV may utilize different types of welding systems for different tasks and is expected to perform expert equipment setup and maintenance, use precision measurement tools, and adhere to shop safety and best practices.
In this role, you will perform expert-level cutting, trimming, fitting, and fabricating weldments to dimensions for building and assembly using standard tools, materials, and welding trade practices. You will lead and mentor welding projects while collaborating with engineers to ensure the accurate assessment of proper weld procedures, programs, types of materials, setups, and approaches. Utilizing different types of welding systems, you will work from various technical drawings and follow detailed work instructions to perform tasks according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions. You will use precision measurement tools to ensure components meet specified tolerances and fabricate fixtures for use, including non-flight parts with standard alloys and complex geometry. Adhering to standard shop practices, you will follow personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety requirements, as well as 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols. Additionally, you will record daily work completion accurately and report to the lead technician while contributing to enhancing operations, minimizing turnaround times, streamlining workflows, and fostering effective collaboration.

- Typically 8+ years of related experience.
- Familiarity with general best shop practices including PPE and shop safety requirements.
- Ability to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for use including non-flight parts with standard alloys and complex geometry.
- Understanding of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.
- Ability to follow correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware.
- Expert understanding of welding techniques and processes, including MIG, TIG, and Orbital arc welding.
Minimum Qualifications
- Typically 8+ years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training or education in welding or a related field.
- Strong mathematical, basic computer, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Expert understanding of welding techniques and processes, including MIG, TIG, and Orbital arc welding.
- Previous experience in an aerospace manufacturing or welding environment.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and adapt.

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
