Responsibilities
- Install structural and reinforcing iron and steel to form and support buildings and bridges.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine layout, dimensions, and materials.
- Position, align, and secure structural metal components using cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment.
- Weld and cut metal components as needed for installation.
- Fabricate, assemble, and dismantle temporary structures and metal parts.
- Verify alignment and fit of components, making adjustments as necessary.
- Operate construction equipment such as forklifts, loaders, cranes, hoists, and other mechanized devices.
- Load and unload materials used in construction or extraction.
- Install insulation, gauges, electrical components, and safety equipment.
- Inspect equipment, structures, and materials for quality and compliance.
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures at all times.
- Perform tasks independently with minimal supervision.
- Work effectively in a team setting with supervisors, peers, and subcontractors.
- Communicate clearly in person, in writing, by phone, or email.
- Analyze and evaluate job information to identify problems and determine solutions.
- Draft layouts and specify technical details for parts or equipment.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have at least 5 years of ironwork experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
