About the Role

Responsibilities
- Set up and operate welding equipment: position parts in jigs or fixtures, select appropriate welding tools and materials, and configure equipment according to technical drawings and WPS parameter ranges.
- Clean filler material, base material, and previously welded material using power tools and chemical solvents prior to welding.
- Perform manual, semiautomatic, mechanized, and automatic GTAW welding operations on thin-gauge materials including 4130 steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and titanium.
- Inspect and repair welds according to visual weld inspection and commercial quality criteria, using tools such as calipers, micrometers, borescopes, and gages.
- Verify dimensional criteria and clean parts; repair welds based on rejection sheets and NDT analysis (Visual, Fluorescent Penetrant, and Radiographic Inspections).
- Adhere to company rules and regulations, including Environmental Health and Safety, Ethics, and International Trade Compliance; maintain a clean work area.
- Support and train other welders, plan and execute a variety of welding operations, interpret technical documents, and use computer-controlled welding equipment as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Must pass a visual acuity test (with or without lens correction).
- Typically requires a high school diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D in the U.S.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- 1+ years of GTAW welding experience and 1+ years of welding fabrication experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of GTAW welding experience on material less than 1/16”.
- Associate’s degree in welding or a certificate from a vocational/technical welding program.
- Experience with automatic, mechanized, semiautomatic, and manual welding.
- Familiarity with AWS D17.1 Welding Code.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing setting.
Skills You Will Learn
- Positioning parts in specific application fixturing and selecting the right welding tools and materials.
- Setting up manual, semiautomatic, mechanized, and automatic GTAW equipment based on technical drawings and WPS parameter ranges.
- Proper weld techniques for various weld types on different materials and material thicknesses as thin as .015”.
- Welding and visually inspecting work according to AWS D17.1 criteria and engineering specifications.
- Inspecting weld quality and repairing welds using diagnostic tools like X-ray films.
- Following safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Assisting in training other welders, planning and executing complex welding tasks, and using advanced welding equipment based on technical documentation.
Schedule
- This is a 2nd shift position with typical hours from 3:00 PM until 11:00 PM.
- Training may be required on 1st shift (7:00 AM until 3:00 PM).
