About the role
Ferrara/KME is a premier manufacturer of fire trucks and emergency response vehicles. We specialize in designing and manufacturing custom solutions for municipal and industrial fire departments.
Responsibilities
- Perform welds on components to exacting specifications, adhering to standard or accepted practice.
- Work from shop orders, specifications, prints, and instructions to ensure parts are correctly prepared and assembled.
- Set parts in assembly fixtures, position, layout, and clamp them in place according to specified orientations.
- Select welding parameters based on specified procedures to ensure joint integrity and dimensional accuracy.
- Fit, tack, and weld joints in designated locations following welding procedure specifications and configurations.
- Manipulate large, heavy units as required to facilitate efficient welding operations.
- Make visual and dimensional checks of work and document findings as necessary.
- Move work between different areas to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Notify supervisors of equipment or operational issues requiring attention.
- Support training and orientation programs for new and transferring employees.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and company policies.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean methodologies.
Qualifications
- Basic welding knowledge, including experience or training in GMAW processes.
- Knowledge of Lean Methodologies.
- Ability to read and understand basic assembly prints and weld symbols.
Skills
- Welding proficiency, specifically in GMAW processes.
- Lean Methodology expertise.
- Strong reading and comprehension skills.
