About the Role
Oshkosh Vocational is expanding into the Murfreesboro, Tennessee area and is building a team of purpose-driven individuals at our new facility off Joe B Jackson Parkway. Responsibilities
- Set up and assemble various components for welding
- Weld out of position
- Set up machine for welding
- Weld aluminum components (bench, MIG, TIG)
- Drill and grind welds
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills
- Regular attendance required
- Communicate verbally with co-workers to keep a safe working environment
- Follow written and verbal instructions to complete tasks
- Apply measurements to parts and equipment
- Use and operate hand and power tools
- Lift light and/or heavy parts on and off a cart, floor, shelf, etc.
- Operate a crane/hoist for heavy lifting
- Assist co-workers with heavy lifting of parts
- Understand the differences in parts and tools
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities that are assigned
Requirements
- 6 months or more of relevant experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent education
- Previous welding experience
- Proficient in MIG welding as demonstrated by an on-site weld skills test
Qualifications
- Welding/Metal Fabrication certificate, technical diploma, or associate degree in related field
- Previous experience constructing large weldments
- Blueprint reading skills

- Tolerate occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling for below waist work
- Maintain balance when walking and standing on potential slippery work floor while welding
- Maintain balance when climbing on a portable step
- Perform welding/assembling tasks while in awkward positions
- Individually lift and manipulate parts/equipment weighing up to 80 pounds
- Use both hands for tool operation, carrying of parts, and assisting co-workers with heavy lifting of parts
- Operate and access heavy equipment safely and effectively
- Remember task sequence and safety constraints

Schedule
Monday - Thursday, four 10-hour days, 4:30pm - 3:00am
Pay
Minimum starting rate at $21.32 per hour. Within the first 6 months, pay increases to a minimum of $26.09 per hour.
