Welder Helper

Delta Constructors is seeking a Welder Helper to assist in joining or connecting various types of metal parts in Watford City, ND.

Schedule

• Full-time, non-rotational
• 6 days per week, 12 hours per day

Responsibilities

• Lifts, moves, holds, or clamps pipe and fittings
• Squares and levels fittings for welding
• Cleans weld joints to remove impurities such as slag, rust, and grease, using wire brush or portable grinder
• Connects hoses from hand torch and beveling machine to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders or connects cables from power source to electrode holder
• Operates cutting torch and beveling machine
• Starts diesel engine to activate welding generators
• Cleans welds of slag and bbs
• Tags or marks finished spools
• Attaches slings to finished spools to move out of work area
• Maintains orderly work area and helps welder roll up to change work location
• Attends training sessions, seminars, and appropriate educational classes as required
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year of electrical experience; industrial industry preferred
• Current and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Current OSHA 10 and Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) certificates or ability to obtain upon hire
• Pass a pre-employment drug test and background check

Skills

• Knowledge of welding
• Knowledge of proper use of oxygen/acetylene cutting equipment (preferred)
• Knowledge of proper use of equipment such as welder torch, electrode holder, drill press, gas welding, and welding electrode
• Knowledge of hazardous materials and safety regulations related to equipment use and operation
• Skilled in daily maintenance of machines, including repairs and inspecting equipment to identify problems
• Ability to use time and equipment efficiently to complete projects on time
• Ability to handle stress and maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations

• Must comply with all company and client policies while working and staying on-site during the work rotation
