Welder Helper
Description
ColonialWebb is seeking helpers to join our Fabrication Team! As Pipefitter/welder Helper, you will assist with layout and fabrication of piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial processing systems according to specifications and codes.
Location
Location: 2820 Ackley Avenue Richmond, VA 23228. Environment: Fabrication Shop. Hours: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, M-F.

A Day In The Life
- Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to the product being fabricated
- Cut pipe using pipe cutters, port-a-band saw, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine
- Thread pipe, using pipe threading machine
- Join piping using welded, grooved, threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints
- Operate shop forklift to lift or transport equipment, material, and supplies as necessary
- Load and unload shop materials from trucks and into buildings
- Furnish experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
- Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of mechanic’s tools and equipment
- Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary
- Work safely, encourage others to do so, and comply with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations, and procedures
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisor
What You Should Have
- Knowledge of pipefitting or willingness to learn
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including unscheduled overtime (nights and weekends)
- Knowledge of basic construction/shop math (addition, subtraction, division, fraction, and multiplication)
- Ability to work skillfully and safely with hands
- Maintain a positive attitude and willing to work in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively and deal diplomatically with coworkers and other tradespeople
What You Should Not Have
You should not have a history of substance abuse or a criminal record that would prevent you from passing a drug screen and background check.
