Position Summary
Basic Function: He will be responsible to manufacture structural steel and platework, heavy machinery, other fabricated metal products. Welding & Fitting components for final assembly.
Principle Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform daily Inspections and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment and Welding Machines including cables, Welding torch etc. as per Schedule.
- Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
- Operate manually welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes primarily TIG and some experience with: (OAW), (GTAW), (GMAW) (MIG).
- Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of welding, brazing and soldering equipment adjusting welding heads and tooling according to work specifications.
- Perform Self-Inspection of parts and work to print.
- Complete and maintain paperwork.
- Check machine for defects and repair if necessary.
- Ensure machine is calibrated and cleaned.
- Lift work piece manually, by forklift or by overhead crane, positions and secures against guides and stops.
- Maintains a clean work area, including his equipment, work supplies and materials.
- Complies with Federal, State, and local occupational safety, environmental, health and Safety and air pollution control regulations including machine safety with all safety precautions recommended by Machine manufacturers.
- Adhere to Sulzer safety standards of facility and actively participate in the company’s Safe Behavioral Program & Take 5.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Experience, Education & Skills Required
- 2-3 years’ experience in use of metal fabrication or related work comparable experience in other fields.
- Desired: High School Degree or GED Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program.
- Ability to set-up and run machinery without supervision.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Forklift or Crane license considered an asset.
- Trade certification is required.
- Experience in safe use, storage and disposal of Welding rods & cleaning the work area etc.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations pertaining to occupational safety, health, and air pollution control.
- Experienced in using power and hand tools.
- Meticulous and detail oriented.
- Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
- Able to work independently.
- Highly self-motivated.
