About the role
Welder/Fitter position at Hilton Tool, a manufacturer of precision machined components and complex steel fabrications. Welders will cut, braze, and weld metal pieces using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment in a permanent shop environment. Projects are typically unique, involving layout, marking, cutting, drilling, punching, bolting, welding, and assembly of structural steel products such as bars, I-beams, channels, angles, tees, plates, and other large metal members.
Responsibilities
- Lay out, mark, cut, saw, drill, punch, bolt, weld, and assemble pieces into finished structural steel products
- Produce quantity and quality welds in at least 3 positions and 3 processes with a failure rate of less than 3% on all fillet and groove welds
- Air arc correctly and weld with minimal supervision
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Work as part of a team, follow directions accurately and timely, and communicate effectively with supervision
- Read and interpret drawings; understand basic weld symbols
- Use WPSs and perform heating/burning processes including torch and plasma cutting
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience and proficiency in FCAW, SMAW, and GMAW welding processes
- Experience in structural steel welding and fabrication shop environments
- Ability to work with very little supervision
Skills
- Ability to weld in vertical, flat, or overhead positions
- Manual dexterity and stability for precision work
- Close-range visual acuity for detail work
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and traverse facilities via climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials
- Strong safety values consistent with state, federal, and company policies
- Good communication skills in both directions with supervision

Pay
- Welder Class A: $32–42 per hour
- Welder Class B: $27–31 per hour
Schedule
- Full-time Monday–Thursday: 5:00 am–3:30 pm
- Friday: Overtime as needed
