About the role
This position involves fabricating, fitting up, and welding various steel components such as pressure vessels, structural steel assemblies, gates, cattle guards, and more. Tasks include preparing weld joints, performing visual inspections, and supporting testing activities.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate, fit-up, and weld pressure vessels, structural steel assemblies, gates, cattle guards, etc.
- Prepare weld joints to proper dimensions, including grinding, gouging, and cleaning.
- Weld structural and process piping in multiple positions.
- Fit and tack pipe spools, install glanges, elbows, tees, and other fittings per drawings.
- Build and weld structural steel assemblies including frames, skids, platforms, ladders, handrails, brackets, and supports.
- Perform fit-up and assembly of structural members using squares, levels, clamps, and fixtures.
- Support hydrostatic testing, pneumatic testing, and non-destructive evaluation activities.
- Perform visual weld inspections and dimensional checks on completed work prior to quality control inspection.
- Maintain welder qualification records and perform continuity welds as required.
- Clean and maintain work areas, tools, and equipment at the end of each shift.
- Comply with all safety policies, codes, and regulations.
- Follow directions of the supervisor.
- Work additional hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must pass a weld test.
- Must be able to read measurements and perform basic math for measurements and tolerances.
- Must be able to stand, walk, squat, bend, and perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Must comply with all safety policies, codes, and regulations.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to develop and maintain strong work relations with team.
- Must have effective communication skills.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be willing to work additional hours, including evenings and weekends, as production schedules or customer demand.
- Must be able to build trust and promote a positive safety culture.
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs and perform hand physical demanding work.
- Must be adaptable to changing field conditions and operational demands.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, participate in the random testing pool, and remain drug and alcohol free throughout employment.
- Must pass a motor vehicle record check and background check.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience operating forklifts/cranes preferred.
