Welder Fabricator

Description

The Welder must be capable of performing a variety of welding functions. The individual should be familiar with and capable of using various types of welding equipment. A welder is also required to perform other miscellaneous tasks, as supervision deems necessary.

• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, general arrangement and sub-component detail drawings
• Maintain, repair, rebuild and fabricate parts when required for all types of industrial equipment
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections, diagnose equipment problems and performs necessary repairs and reports findings to supervision
• Performs MIG, arc and TIG welding, layout, and pipefitting functions
• Full compliance with plant, state and federal safety regulations and general work rules. Use of proper lock-out procedure and personal protective equipment
• Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions
• Examine weld for bead size and other specifications
• Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes
• Selects torch, torch tip, filler ford and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of material
• Chip off excess weld, slag and spatter
• Cleans or de-greases parts
• Performs all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding
• Be able to move parts in and move finished product out of welding area

Requirements

• Educational requirement: A high school diploma or GED is required; military experience, trade or technical school preferred
• Experience & Skills: Certified Welder Required to obtain a D14.1 certification at a G1-G4 position within 30 days after hire. Must possess a working knowledge of all applicable manufacturers and industry standards (CMAA, HMI, ANSI, and OSHA)
• Physical requirements: Must be able to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
• Communication skills: Requires solid written and verbal communication skills
• Technical skills: Strong analytical, conceptual and planning skills are required
• Math skills: Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required
• Personal qualities: Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to multi-task
• Background checks: Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
