Summary
Fabricate and weld steel structures and components to customer specifications utilizing applicable WPS and work instructions. This level has additional responsibilities regarding both “fitting” and training.
Responsibilities
- Read weld symbols and correctly fit parts from blueprints
- Support team leaders by monitoring and reporting information necessary regarding projects, processes and problems
- May assist with the estimation process by providing input on processes and labor requirements
- Participate in customer or potential customer visits
- Use of blue prints, tape measure, and mathematical skills
- Inspect part prior to fit and ensure proper alignment
- Ensure orientation of part is correct
- Visually inspect part prior to fitting to ensure proper conformance
- Visually inspect joint for cleanliness and depth
- Fit parts, while keeping within specification
- Weld flat and horizontal GMAW
- Weld flat horizontal and vertical flux core
- Clean part after welding
- Operate overhead crane; Properly inspect rigging equipment and use proper rigging technique
- Complete operator sign-off
- Record job and section in time matrix
- Follow all EHS policies in order to work safely; fully engage in behavioral based safety initiatives
- Support all continuous improvement initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
