Welder Day Shift

About the role

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a motivated and experienced production welder to join our team! This position engages in the full scope of MIG weld processes on a variety of structural steel including (but not limited to) rigid frame columns, rafters, pipe, beam canopy rafters, small parts, clips, and special assemblies. Welded parts may include thin gauge, painted, or galvanized material.

Responsibilities

• Knows and understands all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and about a manufacturing environment
• Responsible for coordination of welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow with observed condition of bead
• Ability to read a tape measure and blue prints to shop standard
• Ability to decide when adjustment or gun manipulation needs to be altered
• Ability to decide how much and what repairs to make for pin holes and burn through caused by auto welder
• Trains and teaches proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures
• Operates overhead crane and other lifting equipment
• Holds bead to specified shape, size and penetrations while maintaining the quality of the product
• Keeps numerical and alphabetical sequences correct
• Maintains continuous improvement practices in work area
• Regularly required to talk or hear

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• A minimum of one (1) year of experience welding in a production environment or valid welding certification
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings
• To obtain and maintain CWB and AWS welding certification in accordance with Cornerstone Building Brands welding procedures
• Experience with a forklift and/or overhead crane operation a plus
• Comfort and familiarity with power hand tools
• Willingness to train, certify, and operate forklift and overhead crane
• Works effectively to meet deadlines
• Works collaboratively within a team environment
• General mathematical knowledge and proficiency with basic measuring instruments
