Major Tasks, Responsibilities, And Key Accountabilities
- Hand welds various fittings to different sizes of pipes and welding joints.
- Interprets application job sheets and various sizes of welding fittings.
- Analyzes all welds to ensure they are free of porosity and discontinuities.
- Sorts piping per job and sorts line numbers per fabrication job.
- Reviews the order ticket and determines the work to be performed meets the customer's specifications.
- Verifies the final product meets quality control standards.
Nature and Scope
- Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction.
- Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor.
- Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment.
Work Environment
- Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
- Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.
Education And Experience
- HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with basic welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, or stick welding) in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, work instructions, or welding specifications.
- Familiarity with inspecting welds for quality, including identifying defects such as gaps, porosity, or incomplete fusion.
- Experience using hand tools and basic fabrication equipment (e.g., grinders, cutters, measuring tools).
- Strong attention to detail to ensure weld accuracy, proper labeling, and adherence to quality standards.
- Commitment to safety practices, including proper use of PPE and adherence to shop safety procedures.
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working with metal materials.
Pay
Pay Range: $19.10 - $26.20 hourly. Ohio law requires the posting of the salary range for advertised jobs. This range is determined based on market data and internal pay practices to establish a minimum and maximum value for a job. Individual base pay is determined based on a variety of elements including experience, skills, internal equity and other factors.
