Responsibilities
- Perform certified welding on equipment in tunnels, roadways, existing buildings, new construction and framework, and high-pressure vessels.
- Ensure welds meet certification standards.
- Weld and accurately cut metal to repair a variety of equipment.
- Perform precise modifications to various equipment as required to adapt equipment for special accessories.
- Locate parts and materials needed for tasks.
- Provide repair estimates to management.
- Maintain accurate records of completed work.
- Perform certified welding on tunnel equipment and structures such as sidewalk handrails, drain grates, manhole covers, and roadway plates.
- Any other duties as assigned by a supervisor and/or USF Senior Project Manager.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience or training may substitute for education.
- AWS Certification required.
- Knowledge of AC, DC, and arc electric welding techniques.
- Knowledge of various materials, equipment, metallurgical properties, and structural principles.
- Experience in the operation of a variety of welding tools and equipment such as MIG, TIG, electronic and carbon arc, oxyacetylene torch, plasma torch, wire, stick, band saws, grinders, and other welding equipment.
- Demonstrate success providing good customer service to internal and external customers.
- Demonstrate experience performing welding on equipment and structures such as bridges, buildings, or high-pressure vessels using advanced welding techniques and equipment.
- Demonstrate success reading and interpreting blueprints and sketches.
- Demonstrate success fabricating components, as needed, to meet required specifications.
- Demonstrate experience safely welding in an overhead position.
- Demonstrate experience maintaining accurate records of work performed.
- Ability to weld a variety of metals including mild steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and dissimilar metals.
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised in normal and emergency situations.
- Demonstrate success fabricating and modifying equipment and materials and using proper tools in accordance with industry standards for acceptable quality of work.
Pay
$21.00 - $25.00/Hourly
Schedule
Potential for significant periods of sitting or standing. May be subject to short or no-notice work assignments.
