About the role

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate welding equipment to meet quality and productivity standards using electric arc or automatic wire feed processes.
  • Weld parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
  • Ensure soundness of weld joints while maintaining proper weld dimensions, heat, and depth.
  • Perform weld inspections subject to radiography, dye penetrant inspection, or bend tests.
  • Read blueprints and handle materials and tools such as tape measures, plasma cutters, cutting torches, drills, bolts, clamps, etc.
  • Inspect parts or completed units using visual inspection, gages, tape measures, check fixtures, calipers, or other inspection equipment.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
  • Perform a variety of assembly or production duties with minimal supervision.
  • Store all company-supplied tools in proper storage cabinets daily.
  • Assist quality control in testing and other efforts as required.
  • Conduct rope winding as necessary.
  • Maintain acceptable performance standards for assembly, production, quality, safety, and housekeeping.
  • Perform all other assigned duties as instructed by supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 6 months’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Sherman & Reilly Weld Certification and AWS Specification D1.1.94 and D1.3.89.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one or small group settings.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers and various units of measure.
  • Apply commonsense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.
  • Ability to perform root cause and corrective action analysis.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lay down; and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
  • Exposed to uncontrolled temperatures, including extreme cold and heat.

Pay

$21.29–$28.80 per hour.
