Use Your Tig Experience To Restore Precision Aerospace Castings. At PCC Structurals – Carson City, our welders perform precision repairs that restore the structural and dimensional integrity of aerospace investment castings. This is detailed TIG welding—not repetitive production-line welding—and every repair must meet customer specifications, approved welding procedures, and strict quality standards. We’re looking for an experienced TIG welder who can work independently, adjust their approach for different alloys and casting configurations, and consistently produce clean, controlled weld repairs. Aerospace experience is valuable, and previous casting or casting-repair experience is a major advantage. What You’ll Do Perform TIG/GTAW repairs on aerospace investment castings using approved welding procedures and technique cards.Repair casting defects such as cracks, porosity, pits, non-fill, slag holes, and other discontinuities.Apply weld build-up to restore dimensional requirements or support machining operations.Review shop orders, specifications, weld maps, and written instructions before beginning repairs.Determine the correct weld location, filler material, and repair requirements.Plan the welding sequence, including part preparation, preheating, weld application, and finishing.Select the appropriate filler rod, electrode, current settings, and welding parameters based on the alloy and repair.Work with nickel-based superalloys, stainless steels, and other high-performance aerospace materials.Maintain proper weld penetration while preventing undercut, porosity, slag inclusion, distortion, and other defects.Perform visual inspections before and after welding.Use micrometers, calipers, gauges, and fixtures to verify dimensional compliance.Confirm that weld repairs meet blueprint, penetrant inspection, radiographic inspection, and other applicable requirements.Use fixturing and backup tooling to maintain dimensional stability during repairs.Operate hand tools and rotary tooling to smooth and finish completed weld repairs.Record completed repairs, log time, track work orders, and update production systems accurately.Troubleshoot weld-repair challenges and recommend improvements within approved procedures.Assist with training and mentoring Level 1 welders as assigned. YOU MIGHT BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU… Have demonstrated hands-on TIG/GTAW welding experience. Can independently set up and complete controlled TIG welds.Take pride in producing clean, precise work on detailed components. Can adjust welding parameters based on the alloy, part configuration, and repair requirements. Are comfortable interpreting weld maps, technique cards, specifications, and technical drawings.Understand how heat input, penetration, filler selection, and welding sequence affect the finished part. Can identify weld defects and determine the appropriate repair approach within established procedures.Stay focused while performing detailed welding for extended periods.Communicate problems early and work effectively with Production, Quality, and Inspection. Are willing to help train less-experienced welders and share technical knowledge.Have aerospace welding experience or experience repairing castings. WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Aerospace castings can contain defects that require careful, controlled repair before the part can continue through production. The quality of each weld directly affects the casting’s dimensions, metallurgical integrity, inspection results, and ability to meet customer requirements. As a Level 2 TIG Welder, your experience will help PCC Structurals – Carson City recover complex castings, prevent unnecessary scrap, and deliver reliable aerospace components.
