About the role

The Welder role at NexGen Manufacturing is a full-time, on-site position located in Knightstown, IN. The welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding operations, including reading and interpreting blueprints, preparing materials, and executing welds according to specifications and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include operating welding equipment, inspecting and testing welds for accuracy and durability, and maintaining tools and work areas in compliance with safety and quality requirements. The role also involves collaborating with production and engineering teams to meet project deadlines, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve processes. Attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and commitment to consistent quality are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols
  • Prepare materials and execute welds according to specifications and safety standards
  • Operate welding equipment (MIG, TIG) for various applications
  • Inspect and test welds for accuracy and durability
  • Maintain tools and work areas in compliance with safety and quality requirements
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to meet project deadlines
  • Troubleshoot issues and continuously improve processes

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in MIG Welding and TIG Welding for various applications
  • Knowledge of materials, including properties of metals and appropriate welding methods
  • Experience reading blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols
  • Understanding of shop safety practices and ability to follow OSHA and company safety guidelines
  • Capability to use measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify weld quality
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is preferred
  • Relevant certifications in welding (e.g., AWS or equivalent) are beneficial
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and perform repetitive tasks safely
  • Reliable work habits, strong teamwork skills, and effective communication with colleagues and supervisors
