Welder

PURPOSE

Designs, fabricates, joins, and repairs equipment, fixtures, and structures by using various welding techniques.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plans and performs welding assignments to include fabrication, maintenance, joining, and cutting of ferrous and nonferrous metal parts and structures using a variety of techniques
• Analyzes plans, drawings, work samples, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of welding assignments; performs a variety of welding processes such as gas, arc, brazing, silver soldering, soft soldering and the like on a limited variety of materials such as stainless, aluminum, steel, copper, brass, exotics, etc
• Monitors and report inventory levels; recommends supplies and materials to be ordered
• May perform related work such as flame cutting, bending, forming, beveling, notching template making
• Performs MIG, TIF, and Stick welding as well as Brazing (Carbide welding) and plasma cutting
• Pipe fitting

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: High School Diploma/Equivalent
• Work Experience: 0-2 years
• Related Experience: May have experience in lieu of education or any equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving history

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Associate's Degree Degree Field(s): Welding
• Work Experience: 2-4 years
• Related Experience: Previous carbide experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Precise hand/eye coordination: Constantly
• Basic keyboarding or other repetitive motions: Frequently
• Operation of heavy equipment or operation of vehicles: Occasionally
• Lifting/pushing objects weighing over: 50 lbs: Frequently
• Climbing and working in awkward and cramped positions: Frequently
