Responsibilities
- Follow all Hanwha Philly Shipyard safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Perform heavy shipyard construction welding in all positions using approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) determined by Hanwha Philly Shipyard and classification society, including:
- FCAW – Flux Core Arc Welding
- SMAC – Shielded Metal Arc Welding
- SAW – Submerged Arc Welding
- EGW – Electro Gas Welding
- Automated Welding Processes
- Stainless Steel Fillet Welding
- Padding and preparing weld joints per WPS
- Carbon Arc Gouging
- Interpret and demonstrate approved WPS set forth at Hanwha Philly Shipyard.
- Use, troubleshoot, and maintain all welding-related tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Demonstrate welding proficiency through performance and testing as required by vessel project and classification.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Perform internal quality checks of own work to meet daily quality standards.
- Maintain individual NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) rejection rates as set by Hanwha Philly Shipyard and classification society.
- Orient, train, and instruct lesser-skilled welders.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of welding experience, with flux core and ceramic welding preferred.
- Experience with welding robotics and programming is a plus.
- Ability to work independently according to instructions and Hanwha Philly Shipyard rules and standards.
- Flexibility to cooperate with team members.
- Ability to work in varied environments and areas, including:
- Indoors and outdoors
- Confined spaces
- Scissor lifts and aerial lifts
- Inclement weather conditions
Work Environment
Environmental exposures are typical of heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes, and smoke. Work may be performed indoors or outdoors and may involve exposure to inclement weather. Hanwha Philly Shipyard is a tobacco-free facility.
