Responsibilities
- Weld components in accordance with applicable Work Orders and established welding procedures, ensuring compliance with cycle time and acceptability requirements.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of welding equipment.
- Maintain safety of personnel and safe operation of welding equipment; notify supervisory personnel of any nonconforming conditions.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Heat, form, and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment.
- Determine required equipment and welding methods by applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
- Remove rough spots from work pieces using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
- Interpret fabrication drawings to ensure proper use of welding materials.
- Verify workmanship for size, location, and quality.
- Verify materials, consumables, and cleanliness of components in assigned work area.
Requirements
- High School graduate, GED certificate, or industry-related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to qualify for welding procedures for applicable methods or techniques.
- Ability to use necessary hand tools and practice safety in the work area.
- Ability to operate handling and lifting devices.
- Must be able to write and speak English.
- Physical ability to climb on and off equipment throughout the day and pull your own weight along vertical ladders or horizontal planes.
Note: Some shop workers may require additional training if assigned to offshore work. GCS maintains a zero-tolerance policy for drug and alcohol use.
