Welder
About the role
Under the supervision of the Value Stream Leader and Senior Team Leader, the welder is responsible to operate and maintain welding tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner to achieve the quality and production standards of the company.
Responsibilities
- Follow safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment for all team members.
- Align, position, and fit components into fixtures as instructed.
- Set up gas-shielded MIG welder and weld parts to specifications.
- Read blueprints and welding symbols to complete tasks.
- Use hand tools, clamps, and grinders to perform job duties.
- Conduct basic maintenance on welding equipment.
- Weld simple assemblies without fixtures.
- Monitor and adjust robotic welder to ensure quality throughout the run.
- Maintain 5S standards and complete related duties.
- Perform tasks to meet quality and productivity goals.
- Understand and execute inventory paperwork and computer transactions when needed.
- Adhere to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) metrics.
- Move within department/plant as assigned.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Demonstrated skill level of wire feed (M.I.G.) welding.
Skills and Abilities
- Good mathematical skills.
- Able to read tape measure and blueprints.
- Able to use an oxygen/acetylene cutting torch.
- Able to read and understand work order outings and instructions.
- Able to lay out parts using weld fixture.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, using hands and/or fingers to handle, touch objects, assemble parts, utilize tools or controls.
- Regular lifting up to 33 pounds using proper lifting techniques, carrying and moving parts, materials, and product.
- Hand and foot coordination to control and adjust equipment or tools.
- Close, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
