About the Role
Joins metal parts to form a permanent bond used in the manufacturing of AmFab products in our Richland, Michigan plant.
Responsibilities
- Welds metal components and parts using specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches.
- Uses electrical currents to create heat and bond metals.
- Plans work by interpreting blueprints.
- Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
- May operate machine tools such as drill presses, grinders, punch presses, or special purpose equipment according to product specifications.
- Verifies conformance of work using measuring instruments.
- Reads and interprets machining instructions and blueprints.
- Adheres to all health and safety regulations, including OSHA, GMP, HACCP, and equipment-specific safety rules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical school or an applicable skilled trades program completion preferred.
- 2+ years of basic welding experience.
- Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.

- Good communication skills: written and verbal.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Most of the required work is performed in the standing position.
- Physical activity includes walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders, and lifting up to 50 lbs. or occasional lifting, engaging the two-person lift for objects weighing more than 50 lbs.
- Fine motor skills are required.
- Good manual dexterity and the use of two hands required.
- Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull without difficulty.
- Perform activities in a manufacturing environment.
- May be subject to changes in temperature and exposure to dust.
- Must be able to operate standard warehouse equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.).
