How You Will Contribute
Valmont is seeking a highly motivated Welder for our Columbus facility. Key responsibilities include:
- Welding metal components according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders using brazing and various welding equipment
- Accurately fitting structural parts or components in preparation for welding
- Laying out guidelines or marks on metal parts and cutting with a cutting torch
- Welding metal structural components together in the fabrication of steel electrical poles, substations, and other structures
- Adjusting welding equipment to prescribed settings
- Moving pole shafts using an overhead crane and gathering parts and materials
- Utilizing all safety devices and wearing required personal protective equipment
- Participating actively in department safety and demonstrating excellent safety practices
- Communicating and interacting positively with coworkers
- Maintaining acceptable levels of production, quality, and attendance
- Identifying and communicating maintenance or production problems to supervisors
What We Require
- Welding experience, preferably MIG welding
- The ability to read a tape measure
- A strong team player
- The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
- The ability to communicate effectively with coworkers
- The ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- An acceptable level of production, quality, and attendance as determined by management
- A high awareness for safety at all times
- The ability to identify and communicate maintenance or production problems to departmental supervision
- A passion for excellence and delivering exceptional results
