How You Will Contribute

Valmont is seeking a highly motivated Welder for our Columbus facility. Key responsibilities include:

• Welding metal components according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders using brazing and various welding equipment
• Accurately fitting structural parts or components in preparation for welding
• Laying out guidelines or marks on metal parts and cutting with a cutting torch
• Welding metal structural components together in the fabrication of steel electrical poles, substations, and other structures
• Adjusting welding equipment to prescribed settings
• Moving pole shafts using an overhead crane and gathering parts and materials
• Utilizing all safety devices and wearing required personal protective equipment
• Participating actively in department safety and demonstrating excellent safety practices
• Communicating and interacting positively with coworkers
• Maintaining acceptable levels of production, quality, and attendance
• Identifying and communicating maintenance or production problems to supervisors

What We Require

• Welding experience, preferably MIG welding
• The ability to read a tape measure
• A strong team player
• The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
• The ability to communicate effectively with coworkers
• The ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• An acceptable level of production, quality, and attendance as determined by management
• A high awareness for safety at all times
• The ability to identify and communicate maintenance or production problems to departmental supervision
• A passion for excellence and delivering exceptional results
