About the role
Plans, positions, and welds fabricated and cast components on roll-over/fall-over protective structures (ROPS/FOPS) and specialized weldments. Performs full-penetration, high-critical joint welds without backing material on all thicknesses, joint types, and positions. Assists in training welders, completing required reports, and maintaining certification tracking.
Responsibilities
- Produce welds to customer quality standards safely and efficiently.
- Lay out, position, bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts within fixtures per blueprints.
- Set up and adjust equipment and parts according to blueprints and work instructions.
- Perform welding tasks as outlined in blueprints, OPIs, Quality Manual, or performance guidelines.
- Grind excess weld, sharp corners, or protrusions using a portable pneumatic grinder.
- Conduct periodic quality checks and inspect finished product for completeness.
- Assist in 6GR testing for Weld 3 classification of new candidates.
- Serve as a weld training contact, mentoring new welders on weld lines.
- Participate in Hi-Deposition Improvement Planning to enhance safety, efficiency, and quality.
- Track monthly recertification of welders and follow up with the weld trainer.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of Crenlo Engineered Cabs weld training program, including 6GR certification.
- Crenlo basic safety training.
- 3 to 5 years of weld experience.
- Weld certification to AWS/ANSI standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work order instructions, and weld symbols.
- Basic math skills and ability to convert between standard and metric units.
- Good problem-solving skills, safety awareness, and attention to quality.
- Ability to maintain production averages at or above expected standards.
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, ultraviolet light radiation, heat radiation, and vibration.
- Loud noise levels in the work environment.
- Shifts range from 8 to 12 hours (regular full-time).
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to sit, talk, or hear.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Requires close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
