Job Purpose
Maintain and improve manufacturing processes to meet company safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Essential Job Functions
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Perform welding, grinding, and repair of welded assemblies on raw steel
- Set up welding equipment, fixtures, and parameters for assigned jobs
- Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, specifications, and work instructions
- Produce quality weldments while meeting required production rates
- Inspect completed welds to ensure quality and structural integrity
- Enter completed work orders into the company production tracking system
- Communicate safety, production or quality issues to supervisors or management
- Meet established efficiency, productivity and quality standards
- Safely operate hoists and material-handling equipment to position parts
- Follow all company rules, safety policies, and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 0–2 years of production welding experience
- Knowledge of MIG welding equipment setup and operation
- Experience using oxy-acetylene torches, grinders, sanders and hand tools
- Successful completion of a GMAW weld test
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and manufacturing specifications
- Technical school weld certificate

Working Conditions
- Work involves operating equipment and high-RPM air-powered metal finishing tools
- Position requires lifting up to 35 lbs., reaching, repetitive motion, and exposure to dust, vibration, welding fumes, infrared and ultraviolet light
- Work environment is noisy
- Equipment used: Required PPE including safety glasses, welding helmet, gloves, safety shoes, ear protection, and protective clothing; MIG welding equipment, welding torches, gas control units, and compressed air systems; Fixtures, work benches and storage racks; Hand tools and air tools including wrenches, hammers, clamps, grinders, sanders, and cut-off tools; Material handling equipment
