Welder 1
Location: Winsted, MN
Salary Range: $23.06 – $27.03/hour (non-exempt). Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors. Shift differentials: 2nd shift +$1.50/hour, Weekend shift +$2.50/hour.
About the role
As a Welder 1 (entry-level MIG Welder) you will perform MIG welding, layout, tacking, fabrication, and building functions in the manufacture of various products in accordance with product specifications. Millerbernd Manufacturing Company is an AWS (American Welding Society) Sustaining Company Member.
Responsibilities
- Perform GMAW welds: butt, V, single bevel, and fillet welds on carbon steel to Welding Procedures Specifications (WPS) and CWI inspection requirements
- Produce welds that pass visual inspection
- Weld the above joints with .045 and/or .062 diameter wires
- Read and interpret prints, weld symbols, and welding gauges
- Select appropriate wire and shielding gas and weld within WPS parameters
- Layout and tack to specifications
- Use grinder or other tools to clean, smooth, or finish parts
- Operate various machines to fabricate, build, and design products
- Repair improperly welded pieces and fill holes
- Monitor production board and internal paperwork to perform tasks in sequence
- Accurately label all parts for routing to next operation
- Enter job data in production tracking system
- Use crane, hoist, forklift, or other material handling equipment to transport materials and product
- Must be AWS GMAW certified; opportunity to complete all weld certification requirements within 14 days of employment
- Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements
Requirements
- Successful completion of internal welding test is mandatory
- MIG welding experience is preferred; other combinations of formal welding training and experience will be considered
- Proficient in welding techniques on flat, vertical, and rotating planes
- Operational knowledge of electric plasma and acetylene torch
- Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, and weld symbols
- Ability to operate hoists, cranes, and other powered industrial vehicles as needed
- Ability to operate various power and hand tools
- Knowledge of weld positioners, turners, fixtures, and equipment
Schedule
- 1st shift: Monday – Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- 2nd shift: Monday – Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM
- Weekend shift: Friday – Sunday, 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM
