SUMMARY

The primary responsibility is production support through actively maintaining the first line of defense against welding malfunctions. This goal is to be accomplished by:

  • Troubleshooting equipment and non-conforming weld operations
  • Supporting/providing proper set-ups of all welding systems, monitoring & adjustments of equipment and processes within the guidelines of the TRS
  • Playing a key role in improving frame change transitions
  • Providing suggestions and implementation of continuous improvements to meet/exceed conversion cost objectives, production schedules, and quality goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Duties to include the following with additional assignments as warranted:

  • Preventive maintenance of all welding equipment
  • Aiding in development of welding processes, equipment, qualifications, and process improvements
  • Understanding and utilizing methods of weld joint evaluation through appearance, cross-section analysis, and destructive testing
  • Ensuring all welding processes meet or exceed company standards, national codes requirements, and customer expectations/specifications
  • Recording and reporting on condition of welding systems and performance
  • Maintaining and improving safety of welding equipment and systems
  • Providing training support to welding operations

Qualifications

  • To perform successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, education, experience/skills required.

  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of welding operations.

Experience

  • Must have performed in welding production environment for a minimum of 3 months.
  • PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Production experience with End Cap, Seam, Resistance and Friction welders.

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) in a technical area or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or working on degree.
  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience to reach top of pay.
  • If no degree is desired, pay will freeze at the 21-month rate.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as sums, percentages, ranges, averages, etc.
  • Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
