Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, qualify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
- Design and assist in the development of weld fixtures and tooling.
- Establish welding process parameters for automated welding equipment.
- Support fixture validation and finished-part gauge verification.
- Design, implement, and document control systems for automated manufacturing equipment.
- Program and troubleshoot PLC-controlled automated welding systems.
- Coincide machine commissioning, debugging, power-up, and production validation.
- Ensure equipment meets customer specifications and JR Automation engineering standards.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, and manufacturing specifications.
- Troubleshoot welding defects and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and production teams to improve welding efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Travel to customer facilities to support installations, audits, and production activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Alternatively, six or more years of related experience in welding automation may be considered.
- Five (5) plus years of experience developing and qualifying: WPSPQRWPQ documentation.
- Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Strong experience reading and interpreting: Engineering drawingsSchematicsSpecificationsManufacturing documentation.
- Extensive knowledge of welding codes and standards including: AWS D1.1AWS D1.2AWS D1.3AWS D1.6AWS B2.1ASME Section IX.
- Hands-on experience with welding processes: FCAWGMAW (MIG)GTAW (TIG).
- Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): UTRTMTPTVF.
- Familiarity with ASNT TC-1A weld inspection requirements.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor.
- Experience in Industrial Manufacturing.
- Experience in Metal Fabrication.
- Experience conducting on-site manufacturing audits.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or practical implementation experience.
- Experience with automated welding systems and robotic welding applications.
