Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, qualify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
  • Design and assist in the development of weld fixtures and tooling.
  • Establish welding process parameters for automated welding equipment.
  • Support fixture validation and finished-part gauge verification.
  • Design, implement, and document control systems for automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLC-controlled automated welding systems.
  • Coincide machine commissioning, debugging, power-up, and production validation.
  • Ensure equipment meets customer specifications and JR Automation engineering standards.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, blueprints, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Troubleshoot welding defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and production teams to improve welding efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Travel to customer facilities to support installations, audits, and production activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Alternatively, six or more years of related experience in welding automation may be considered.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience developing and qualifying: WPSPQRWPQ documentation.
  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Strong experience reading and interpreting: Engineering drawingsSchematicsSpecificationsManufacturing documentation.
  • Extensive knowledge of welding codes and standards including: AWS D1.1AWS D1.2AWS D1.3AWS D1.6AWS B2.1ASME Section IX.
  • Hands-on experience with welding processes: FCAWGMAW (MIG)GTAW (TIG).
  • Knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): UTRTMTPTVF.
  • Familiarity with ASNT TC-1A weld inspection requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor.
  • Experience in Industrial Manufacturing.
  • Experience in Metal Fabrication.
  • Experience conducting on-site manufacturing audits.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or practical implementation experience.
  • Experience with automated welding systems and robotic welding applications.
