About the role

The Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking a Weekend Youth Programs Attendant to join our Youth Programs Department. We are looking for staff who are available to work Saturdays 8:30 - 4:30 p.m. (at minimum). This is a part-time, year-round position with the potential to gain more hours depending on your availability outside of the day/hours listed above.

Responsibilities

  • Interact positively with all staff, parents, children, and guests.
  • Maintain an upbeat and friendly behavior.
  • Greet parents and children upon arrival and departure.
  • Update records of the children as needed.
  • Help parent and child as needed to separate in a manner that reduces anxiety and eases the child’s transition into our care.
  • Maintain positive behavior among children; correct misbehavior through redirection or moving the child to a safe, quiet area.
  • Conduct activities with children including games, art or craft projects, storytelling, imaginary play; monitor individual and group play.
  • Tend to children’s toileting, diapering, and hygiene needs as needed, following department procedures.

Requirements

  • Experience with children infant - 6 years old is preferred but not required.
  • First Aid/CPR certified and Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse Neglect training (or become certified within 90 days of hire).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a variety of people under a variety of circumstances.
  • Ability and skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and members.
  • Excellent customer service skills are a necessity.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Skills

  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently.
  • Knowledge of child development and safety practices.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
