Position Summary
Responsible for doing multiple set ups per shift and machining weldments, block work of all sizes, Flame/grind plates, pins, etc. in a timely manner, while maintaining exceptional quality.
Job Responsibilities
- Independently set-up and operate 5 axis CNC machine, to machine parts per print efficiently and accurately
- Inspects work for conformance to specifications
- Maintain little to no re-work or scrap
- Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes
- Maintains satisfactory attendance and punctuality record
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Experience and Skills
- 5-7 years minimum experience as a machinist
- Prior experience setting up and operating HAAS VMC’s and Mazak Lathes
- High attention to detail and quality
- A good knowledge base and understanding of M and G code
- Mazatrol programming experience a plus
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Understand basic GD&T callouts
- Ability to accurately use standard measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauge, etc.)
- Ability to setup and run “one-off” parts to print efficiently and accurately
- Must work well under pressure
- Excellent team player with organizational and time management skills
Nonessential Skills and Experience
- Safety (OSHA, SDS), ANSI (RIA) standards.
Environmental, Health and Safety
- Understand the Company’s EH&S Policy and how it relates to this job;
- Be aware of OSHA & EPA laws and regulations as well as company rules and policies that pertain to this job;
- Work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner and observe all company EH&S procedures;
- Immediately notify the supervisor if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly or if there are any questions regarding EH&S procedures;
- Attend required EH&S training.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Physical demands: While performing duties of job, employee is typically required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend; squat; climb; see, talk and hear. Be able to climb ladders; lift hand tools up to 40 lbs. consistently, and parts up to 50 lbs. consistently. Repetition with activity.
