About the role

This part-time position leads and supports weekend shift employees engaged in Sheet Metal operations. The Weekend Team Lead serves as the primary day-to-day resource for production employees, helping coordinate work activities, maintain safety and quality standards, and support the successful execution of the weekend production schedule. The role works closely with the Manufacturing Supervisor, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Materials teams to address operational issues and support continuous improvement efforts. The role supports production execution and employee development but is not responsible for formal disciplinary actions, hiring, or performance management.

Schedule

Saturday–Sunday, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate weekend Sheet Metal operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for production employees during weekend operations.
  • Assign work and assist in prioritizing daily production activities based on schedule requirements.
  • Support employee training, onboarding, and cross-training activities.
  • Communicate production priorities, safety expectations, and operational updates to team members.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and Manufacturing Orders (MOs).
  • Assist in troubleshooting production issues and escalate concerns as necessary.
  • Monitor machine uptime and report equipment, tooling, or process issues requiring additional support.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production leadership to address operational concerns.
  • Promote compliance with company policies, departmental procedures, work instructions, and safety regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement activities intended to improve safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency.
  • Maintain production records and communicate shift performance results to management.
  • Assist with material staging, tooling readiness, and production preparation activities as required.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and day-to-day support to employees while promoting teamwork and accountability.
  • Support weekend staffing coordination and communicate attendance concerns to supervision.
  • Attend occasional weekday meetings, training sessions, audits, or business-related activities as needed.
  • Use Shop Floor Control, MRP II, CAD, SAP, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of manufacturing experience, preferably in sheet metal fabrication or a similar production environment.
  • Previous experience serving as a team lead or trainer.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety requirements, quality standards, and continuous improvement principles.
