Weekend Shift Transportation Clerk

About the role

The Warehouse Transportation Clerk will process and oversee a variety of processes associated with the repair and maintenance of our tractor trailer fleet. The position is responsible for tracking a private fleet operation of over 25–100 drivers.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily transportation activities and communicate opportunities for improvement or operational concerns
• Communicate to Distribution Center and Transportation Management on daily performance issues
• Meet or exceed service guidelines based on transportation department performance in picking up or delivering freight from and to AutoZone’s stores, vendors, or distribution centers
• Prepare daily and weekly reports (payroll, delivery variance, and expenses)

Requirements

• Level of Formal Education: A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); may include specialized or vocational courses
• Area of Study: Transportation or technical school preferred
• Years of Experience: One to two years
• Type of Experience:
  • Payroll process
  • Transportation operations
  • Familiarity with DOT rules and regulations
  • Familiarity with Haz-Mat regulations
  • Familiarity with a dispatch on-board communications system and routing software
  • Ability to understand and solve transportation and logistics issues

Skills

• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, etc.)
• Analyze driver logs

Preferred Qualifications

• Clerical fleet experience in a grocery or retail environment
• Customer-focused, self-motivated, eager to learn

Pay

Starting rate $20.30 per hour

Schedule

Thursday – Sunday, 7:30 am – 5:30 pm
