Meyer Utility Structures, a subsidiary of Arcosa, Inc., is an industry leader in engineering design and fabrication of concrete, lattice, and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications.
About the role
This Weekend Production Manager position works with the Assistant Plant Manager to oversee production at our Gadsden, AL plant. The role focuses on monitoring and evaluating workflow, assembly methods, and implementing process improvements to enhance output.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all employees follow all safety procedures and protocols.
- Manage daily production operations of heavy industrial products.
- Lead, coach, and manage multiple supervisors to achieve their daily goals.
- Set nightly production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply, staffing resources, and volume required to meet demand, ensuring maximum production quantity and quality.
- Work closely and communicate with employees daily to ensure expectations for Quality, Production, Safety, and On-Time Deliveries are met or exceeded.
- Overcome obstacles to achieve established safety, production, efficiency, and quality metrics.
- Fill in for supervisors and manage individual production bays during absences or vacations.
- Manage personnel issues with the help of HR and other support resources.
- Ensure production of sufficient quantities of quality products at or below budgeted production costs.
- Assist in continuous improvement activities to improve material movement through production processes.
- Produce and deliver annual performance reviews for each supervisor as part of the annual performance evaluation process.
- Ensure 30-, 60-, and 90-day reviews are completed by supervisors for all new hires.
- Ensure appropriate training documentation is completed for each new hire.
- Review and approve PTO requests, weekly timecards, daily timesheets, and other required items by deadlines.
Requirements
- 5+ years of successful leadership experience, preferably at the superintendent or equivalent level, in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
- Solid managerial and leadership attributes demonstrated through previous professional work experience.
- Experience in a metal fabrication or welding facility, specifically with flux and/or metal core welding, is highly preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of blueprints and layouts, preferably related to transmission poles.
- High level of analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead multiple leaders/supervisors in accomplishing their goals.
- High degree of professionalism, dependability, maturity, and strong leadership characteristics.
- Must be able to work weekends.
- Regular and predictable attendance, a great attitude, and ability to work well with a team.
