Weekend Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

The successful candidate will provide leadership, training, and development to hourly personnel by managing the process flow, resources and workforce to meet and exceed established budgets and performance objectives. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Superintendent in this full-time role, the successful candidate will lead a maintenance crew of Millwrights, Electricians, Welders and Contractors.

Responsibilities

• Achieving Maintenance goals with the highest regard for employee safety
• Capable of supporting troubleshooting & observations of machine centers with shift supervisors and other maintenance staff to ensure production and quality standards are met
• Managing the department cost in an aggressive manner assuring optimum manufacturing unit cost; develop and educate key metrics
• Maintenance Planning, planning non-emergency maintenance, coordinating PM routes
• Effectively communicating goals and/or instructions
• Managing conflicts
• Supervising Maintenance and Cleanup personnel on varying schedules
• Managing contractor safety through active leadership
• Maintenance of sawmill equipment (this includes but is not limited to De-Barkers, Gang Edgers, Trimmer, Sorter, Stacker, Conveyors, Chippers, Blowers, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems)
• Safety of the crew (Lock-Out Procedures, assisting with and verifying Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA), Safety Audits)
• Create and plan improvement projects
• Manage parts with the purchaser
• Schedule and attendance
• Will include periodic weekend coverage
• Inspecting completed work

Requirements

• Prior Journeyman Electrician or Millwright
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Well organized
• Minimum of five years (plus) of industrial experience
• Leadership and communication skills
• Two or Four-year degree preferred
• Prior Supervisory experience preferred
