Weekend Babysitter

About the role

Jovie is hiring experienced babysitters to provide care to local families on evenings and weekends. Shifts are typically 4+ hours long, usually from Friday through Sunday, with times ranging from 4pm-Midnight. Weekday afternoon and evening hours are also available.

Responsibilities

• Making and providing meals
• Engaging in activities such as arts and crafts, board/card games, baking, outdoor play
• Bedtime routine
• Common sense clean up
• Supervising children until parents arrive home

Requirements

• You find joy when working with children and desire to engage with them throughout the assignment
• You have relatable childcare experience (special needs experience a plus) and the desire to work one-on-one with children in their home, putting safety above all else
• You have personal experience caring for younger siblings
• You can provide 3 references, 2 of which must be from working with children
• You have a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license to reach assignments
• You are already CPR/First Aid Certified or willing to be certified
• You are available to work at least 2 shifts per week, Friday through Sunday between the hours of 4pm-Midnight
• The work environment will be active, kid-centric, and includes clean up of activities
• Part of each day may be spent outside, weather permitting, and will involve active play
• Essential Physical Requirements: Regular lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, and pushing; ability to lift 35 pounds safely; ability to get up from and down to the floor numerous times throughout the day; quick reaction to certain situations; calm, effective, and safe response to emergent situations

Qualifications

• Personal experience caring for younger siblings
• Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
• CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain certification
• Availability to work at least 2 shifts per week, Friday through Sunday between the hours of 4pm-Midnight

Skills

• Experience with special needs children (optional but preferred)
• Ability to engage children in various activities
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Physical stamina and strength
